New Frontiers: A Programme on Renewable Energy

ReNew was recently felicitated for ‘Advancing SDG 7 through UN Energy Compacts’ by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). The recognition came as part of Government of India’s on-going celebrations on 75 glorious years of India’s independence – Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The Honourable Minister, Mr. R K Singh felicitated Chairman and CEO, Mr. Sumant Sinha for ReNew’s ‘Energy Compact’ submitted during the UN High Level Dialogue on Energy 2021 at the ‘New Frontiers: A Programme on Renewable Energy’.

ABOUT ENERGY COMPACTS

Energy Compacts are voluntary commitments of action, with specific targets and timelines to drive the progress on the achievement of SDG7, to accelerate action for clean, affordable energy for all. Submission of energy compacts is open to all relevant stakeholders including member states and non-state actors, such as companies, regional/local governments, NGOs and others. Twenty two compacts were submitted from India by PSUs, corporates and smart cities in addition to the national compact submitted by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.

AKAM is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of it’s people, culture and achievements. This Mahotsav is dedicated to the people of India who have not only been instrumental in bringing India thus far in its evolutionary journey but also hold within them the power and potential to enable Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of activating India 2.0, fuelled by the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The official journey of AKAM commenced on 12th March 2021 and will end on 15th August 2023.
