Power is one of the critical components of infrastructure and a key parameter for the economic growth of the country. The Government of India’s impetus for producing energy from non-conventional sources such as solar and wind has brought renewables to the fore. The focus on attaining ‘Power for all’ with renewable power production target of 175 GW by 2022 has accelerated capacity addition in the country. States are also preparing action plans wiwith annual targets to introduce renewable energy technologies and install solar rooftop panels to contribute to this target. This, in fact, has placed India on the third rank among the 40 countries in Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index by EY.
The adoption of renewable energy is also a key strategy in combatting greenhouse gas emission-fuelled climate change, which the World Economic Forum identifies each year as a serious global risk. Understanding the implications of reliance on conventional power sources, the benefits of renewable energy and pertinence of the collaboration to create awareness, we bring to you #IndiaEnergyChat, an initiative by ReNew Power Ventures Ltd. This forum will encourage conversations around renewables for a more sustainable future.
The first #IndiaEnergyChat will be held on World Environment Day with the theme as Renewable Energy: A response to Climate Change. The panellists for the discussion will be Sumant Sinha (@sumant_sinha), Chairman and CEO of ReNew Power and Dr Arunabha Ghosh (@GhoshArunabha), Founder-CEO, Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), one of South Asia's leading policy research institutions and among the world’s 20 best climate think-tanks, along with Jyoti Mukul (@mukuljyoti), Energy Editor at Business Standard (@bsindia) as the moderator. This will be the first of the series that will run through the year on various industry relevant topics, bringing together individuals and communities.
We cordially invite you to participate and contribute towards addressing this global phenomenon. You can send across your queries using #IndiaEnergyChat and our esteemed panellists will share their opinion on June 5, between 12:30 PM to 01:30 PM.
